No… Some eyes are still sensitive to sunlight even when in a vehicle. You also have to take in account the angle of the sun shining in their face.

Question by John S.: Will wearing sun glasses with a UV coating provide the correct protection from “blue light” from a PC screen?
There are glasses specifically made to protect eyes from the kind of light that comes from computer screens. And I have a pair of those. But if I don’t happen to have them with me, I wonder if a regular pair of sunglasses will suffice, or is it the wrong kind of protective coating. Both are meant to protect against radiated light. But I sense that untraviolet radiation from the sun is a different wavelength than the radiated light (“blue light”) from a computer screen. Therefore, wearing sunglasses while surfing the web may be pointless or at least ineffective if the goal is to protect the eyes from excessive eye strain staring into a computer monitor.
What can you tell me, if you happen to know the answer. Please note your source if you happen to be an eye expert or particularly knowledgable in this area.
In answer to Optician “Footprintz” answer below…I will defer to your greater education in this field, but I am not making it up when I refer to “blue light”. Check out this article:

I did not mean to intimate that blue light was some kind of dangerous radiation like toxic waste. And I am not making up the term “blue light”. It is commonly used when talking about the kind of light that comes from computer monitors. The blue-colored LEDs are a form of radiated light and are known to cause eye strain, and that is all I was referring to. Not cancer. Eye strain. And it is a fairly well-accepted medical point that some vitamins such as Lutein can help maintain eye health and strength which is important to many who work, staring into a computer screen for hours each day. And yes, they should make it a habit to look away periodically to help the eyes re-adjust. I was just curious if sun glasses might help in any way.

Your whole question is based on a false premise.
There is no ” blue light” or any other rays emitted from a monitor that you need any protection from.
People who wear glasses already will get reflections, causing glare , on their lenses from the monitor light unless they have an anti glare coating on them.
But if you don’t wear glasses to begin with, there is no glare.
Sites that sell ” protective” glasses with no prescription are just a scam. They scare people into believing there are some dangerous ” rays” coming out. It is completely false.
The way to prevent eyestrain is to keep your monitor a good 30 inches away, and take very frequent breaks, allowing your eyes to focus on distant objects for several seconds.
Nothing coming from the monitor is causing eyestrain, it is just that we don’t blink enough, and stay focused up close for too long at a time.
