no they just like to have control and be over-restrictive.
Id get yellow tinted ones and were em anyway you can see everything so clearly with them.

  2. Pat says:

Its not “Illegal” They Just Don’t Want You To Be Distracted.

It’s very possible to get hit by the ball or make wrong calls while wearing sunglasses.

Also i guess they don’t want to be responsible if you break them. :)

No it is not illegal. The problem with wearing sunglasses in tennis is the equivalent as wearing a glove while playing tennis. With sunglasses it is harder to see the ball and you may mistake calls. Also, with sunglasses it is really dangerous if somebody hits you in the face. sunglasses can also fall off or distract you if the move. Its better to just wear a hat instead of glasses.

    Its a fashion statement.

no but they will get distracted because they keep on running na

  6. BearBear says:

No, it is not. It’s just hinders your judgment on balls. A hat FTW.

  7. kade says:

No, it’s not illegal. Samantha Stosur on the WTA plays with sunglasses on all the time. It’s just a matter of preference.

whilst it isnt illegal to wear sunglasses the same porcedure applies as it does to wearin a hat… if they fall off then u lose the point… so its ur choice :)

Its Legal! did you watch the semi final in wimbledon? federer vs karlovic? karlovic was serving under the sun and took break and wore his sunglasses. looks cool btw. the crowd was whistling and laughing :)

  10. Nero 007 says:

No its not illegal. My coach says the same thing but he wants me to practise without sunglasses as he wants me to “handle the elements well” and not get distracted by the sun.

  11. Federer Fan (15 Majors) The GOAT says:

It is not illegal or against the rules of tennis to wear sunglasses. Janko Tipsarevic, who is a professional tennis player, always wears sunglasses when he plays tennis. I have also seen Ivo Karlovic, another professional tennis player, wear sunglasses while playing.

It might just be that your coach is worried that you won’t be able to see as well with sunglasses on, which is a reasonable argument. It is best to listen to your coach. If you are having problems with the sun then try wearing a visor instead. If you really want to wear sunglasses than you should discuss it with your coach.

  12. John says:

Glasses will get in the way. Specially after you sweat and the lens could get dirty and it will just become a distraction for yourself. If you can learn to play without, it will be better for you in the long run.

Its just that if you wear them too much it hurts your eyes.

  14. Nurrr! says:

glasses often distract the tennis player. Nothing against wearing it though. Say, Ivo Karlovic wore sunglasses at Wimbledon, I remember.
